Kids should be taking in a certain amount of calories each day. Young kids should be taking in about 1,600 to 2,500 per day. Middle school students need to take in 2,500 to 3,000 calories per day. A calorie is a unit of measurement and energy. Your body needs calories for energy so that you can stay active throughout the day.
